California-based tool and equipment retailer Harbor Freight Tools will open a new location in Silverdale on Silverdale Way.
The 19,000-square-foot store will open sometime mid to late summer. Harbor Freight currently has 32 locations in Washington, including one in Seattle and one in Tacoma.
The nationwide retailer has been looking to open a store in Kitsap County and specifically in Silverdale for some time, said Craig Hoffman, director of communications for Harbor Freight Tools. The location at 9337 Silverdale Way NW meets what the company requires: good visibility, easy access, ample parking as well as the right size space.
“We think this location will be more convenient for our customers in Silverdale,” Hoffman said.
The site was formally occupied by Naturally 4 Paws, which relocated to 2779 NW Myhre Road in 2021.
The Silverdale location will be smaller than some of the other Harbor Freight stores, “which we think is a competitive advantage,” the director said.
Because many of Harbor Freight’s customers are professional tradespeople who like to stop off on their way to their workplace, pick up what they need quickly and head off to work, and many are DIYers or hobbyists, the size of the store makes it easier for them to browse and find what they want, Hoffman said.
Harbor Freight Tools sells a full selection of tools and equipment, including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools and more, according to Hoffman.
The company will hire locally for the new location, which will bring between 25 to 30 “well-paying” jobs to the community, Hoffman said.
Available jobs will be posted online at harborfreightjobs.com/retail. Those who are interested can search “Silverdale, WA” to find more information.
