HANOVER — After weeks of uncertainty, Hanover’s Youth Rec Basketball program officially has dates and a location set. The program, open for kids in second through sixth grade, will take place from Tuesday to April 2, and will have some differences that should make it more fun for those attending.
“We’re going to be doing practice the first two days and then games on the third day,” said Hanover Town Councilman Lou Pelletter. “It’ll be a little bit more interesting for the kids.”
While COVID-19 restrictions provided uncertainty as to where it could be held, Pelletter said the location would be at Forestville Central School. The Youth Rec program is open to students from Forestville and Silver Creek School Districts, and will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings during the one-month time span.
Pelletter added they’ll be doing more things to get some of the kids involved. There was a cheerleading clinic held in December, and there will be flag football scheduled for the upcoming fall. According to Pelletter, he believes they will be able to use the pool at Silver Creek Central School for the summer program, and will discuss with the Village of Silver Creek where they want to hold it.
“I’m hoping to have a very well-rounded program,” said Pelletter.
The next meeting of the Hanover Town Board will take place Monday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.
