A news release said the Resilient Communities grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation “will improve member experience at the YMCA and help with adjusting to the changing landscape of fundraising during and throughout the recovery of COVID-19.”

“By enabling continued innovation and improvements in member communication and fundraising as our province rebuilds from COVID-19, this grant will help maintain and grow the Y’s vital programming for families, children and newcomers across our region for years to come,” Peggy Sattler, MPP for London West, said in the release.

The new technology is meant to give YMCA members a “more personalized experience,” the release said.

The YMCA operates 15 health, fitness and aquatics centres, including in Chatham, and provides children’s educational services at more than 115 locations throughout Southwestern Ontario, according to the release. It also offers settlement services and language instruction, day and overnight camps in a variety of locations.

“As we recover from the pandemic, we are more driven than ever to serve our communities and their changing needs,” Andrew Lockie, CEO of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, said in the release.

“With this funding we are able to adapt key communications and fundraising tools to support the recovery of our Y and to keep our community strong, healthy and thriving.”
